Onion-Sesame Biscuits
(Adapted from Roots: A Vegetarian Bounty, by Kathleen Mayes and Sandra
These savory biscuits taste especially good with the Spring Radish Spread recipe.

Yields 20 appetizer-size biscuits
1/2 cup shredded yellow onion (about 1 onion’s worth, shredded with a box grater)
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons water
1 1/2 cups whole-wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sesame seeds

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F and grease a baking sheet. Set aside.
In mixing bowl, whisk together egg, olive oil and water. Stir in dry ingredients.
Drop heaping tablespoons of dough on the baking sheet. Bake 10 to 15 minutes, or until nicely browned. Serve with a spread.
